Downtown development/downtown revitalization doesn’t typically come with a magic recipe. Nearly everything we do represents a piece of a puzzle that capitalizes on a unique downtown’s strengths while diminishing its weaknesses. Or it capitalizes on a new idea that creates investment and excitement.
Main Street Iowa has named five finalists in their annual Open 4 Business Pitch Contest, which will be held Tuesday, August 1 in conjunction with the 2023 Iowa Downtown Conference at the RE/MAX City Centre in Sioux City. Each of the five finalists will pitch their business idea live to a panel of judges and the winner will receive a $20,000 grant.
The 37th annual Iowa Downtown Conference will be held August 1-3 in Sioux City, Iowa. The event is the premier annual conference for professionals and volunteers involved in downtown revitalization in Iowa and neighboring states.
Iowa has a network of 54 designated Main Street Iowa programs throughout the state. Each year, this network of communities dedicated to downtown revitalization gather in Des Moines to celebrate the impacts of their collective work and honor awards at the annual Main Street Iowa Development Awards.
