Iowa Tourism Office Launches Fall/Winter Travel Guide

September 7, 2023 (Des Moines, Iowa) — Today, the Iowa Tourism Office launched the latest edition of the Iowa Travel Guide packed with fall and winter travel ideas.

“We’re fortunate to have four seasons of travel in Iowa,” said Amy Zeigler, manager of the Iowa Tourism Office. “The fall/winter travel guide provides ideas for adventurer seekers and those who prefer to be more low key. Fall in Iowa is especially a great time to take in the magnificent fall colors from atop a limestone bluff or on a drive along one of Iowa’s 14 scenic byways.”

The 140-page Fall/Winter Iowa Travel Guide includes listings for hundreds of authentic and unexpected destinations, cabins and campgrounds. Editorial content features hidden gems, Iowa date night ideas, the Great River Road’s 85th anniversary, fall and winter bucket lists, winter hikes, ski resorts and coffee roasters. The cover features a winter hike in Barbara Barnhart Van Peenen Memorial Park in Decorah. The free guide can be ordered online at traveliowa.com, by phone at 800.345.IOWA or picked up at any of Iowa’s 14 Welcome Centers. An online version is also available.

The Iowa Tourism Office, part of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, works closely with community partners, attractions and events, to promote the state’s beautifully vast scenery and unique history. Tourism in Iowa generated $1 billion in tax revenues in 2021, with more than $901 million supporting state and local governments, while employing a total of 65,000 people statewide.
